The Poeh Gallery is an extension of the Poeh Cultural Center and Museum, which was established in 1988 by the Pueblo of Pojoaque Tribal Council. The mission of the Poeh Cultural Center is to support the future of Pueblo people by teaching the arts, by collecting great works of art and by promoting public understanding of, and respect for, Pueblo history and culture.
Since 1989, Poeh Arts, which is the arts education division of the Poeh Center, has brought master artists and students together to foster their emerging talents. The Poeh Museum staff provides exhibition, conservation, and preparation of the art for display. The Poeh Center developed a unique training curriculum based on the practice of transmitting cultural knowledge orally to subsequent generations. This intergenerational method has proven successful and is accredited by Northern New Mexico Community College, University of New Mexico, and the Native American Vocational and Technical Education Program of the U. S. Department of Education.
Please take the time to browse and visit with the Poeh Gallery
staff, whom have art on display and are more than happy to explain their
creative process.
