Pojoaque Pueblo Construction Services Corporation

The Pueblo of Pojoaque’s Tribal Council created and incorporated Pojoaque Pueblo Construction Services Corporation (PPCSC) in March 1993, as a for-profit business, with a unique purpose of generating new revenues for, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of, the Poeh Cultural Center. The driving concept for PPCSC was to work on commercial construction projects throughout New Mexico, and to utilize the profit to build and sustain the Poeh Center’s facilities.

That strategy has proven successful. PPCSC has completed over 30 projects and realized over $10 million in gross income. It completed Phase I of the Center in 1996. In 1999, PPCSC completed construction of Phase II, the Center’s administrative offices and a new Museum, scheduled to open in late 2002. PPCSC continues to grow and now provides construction project management services throughout the Southwestern states and in California.

The successful collaboration between the Pueblo’s Poeh Cultural Center and Construction Services Corporation is one of eight Tribal initiatives to receive High Honors through Harvard University’s Honoring Nations 2000 Program. It has also been nominated to receive a second award from Harvard through its Innovations in American Government Program.
